There are a lot of brilliant ideas in the concept of a Sabbath. I appreciate many many things about it. Studying, and appreciating a Jewish perspective has intensified my adherence to the concept of a Sabbath.
It is the concept, and not the day, that is important. (The Sabbath was made for people, not people for the Sabbath...) As with many biblical concepts, it is the benefit to the person that is God's goal. God is fine on her own, she doesn't need us, we need her.
As a narcoleptic, the most compelling concept about the Sabbath is that I can finally sleep. I can finally rest. Thank God. There is one day a week that I don't have to make excuses with 'society' about when I need to be cogent.
At the least, God has mandated one day of the week for my normal, biological predilection.
Don't wake me up on the Sabbath!

Please don't wake up to read this comment, but rather continue sleeping and read it at your leisure later on.
Since it is now 1AM, I am at my leisure. Consider your comment replied upon. Please ignore my diction, I take liberties with it at such an hour as this. Such should be expected from a jackass such as myself. I would feel that one should take note of such jackassery, however one is a commensurate jackass.
