America runs on blood

It's interesting to contrast the respect that Native American peoples had for the species they preyed upon, with the sterile disrespect that Americans of European decent have for prey species.

Humans are predatory killers, but American descendants of Europeans seem to wish to distance themselves from that on the surface, while living an existence that puts immeasurable pressure on the lives around us.

I haven't pulled the trigger, but as an American, I've killed many Middle-Easterners because they have a resource that America needs. I can't live with that. Many Americans seem to have no qualms however, as long as the lights are on and the car starts.

American political discussions involve "freedom", while our policy is murderous. One of our major cities was brutally attacked and we subsequently invaded a country with no involvement in said attack. That country had massive oil reserves however.

We may think our country runs on oil, but we are denying our natural killer instinct. Our country runs on the blood of the people we subjugate. It has done so since the days we raided African tribal communities for slaves to pick our crops, and killed off the native populations of the land we arrogantly call our own.

Anything I say on this topic can't be better said than Dr. Martin Luther King Jr has already said it. RIP Dr King. America has a lot of heroes. I'm glad you're high on the list.
